| The demolished zone will house
the new “via Albertano da Brescia” school
complex.
To the south of the area stands an adjacent residential zone,
while to the west lies an area of common land owned by the
council. The north of the area is bounded by via Cucca.
The buildings were in a dilapidated state,
the materials used in the construction had deteriorated over
time and, in some cases, no longer complied with current
standards, in particular:
- the aluminium windows did not open or close properly;
- the floors were badly worn and in some places cracked and
holed;
- the false ceilings did not comply with acoustic criteria
- the micro-perforations were blocked with paint and there
were traces of non-encapsulated rockwool (not to standard);
- the bathrooms were no longer functional and did not comply
with hygiene-sanitary regulations;
- the 35% pitched roof with its terracotta tiles was in poor
condition, with water infiltration causing stains on the
ceilings.
In addition, the type of roof with its murici e tabelloni
and overlying layer of tiles was too heavy for the
prefabricated structure, especially when considering
the new seismic requirements.
