The new bridge over the
river Brembo, a eng. Mario Eugenio Giuliani's project, linking via G.
Gozzi and via dell’Industria downstream of the existing
railway viaduct.
The bridge is of the cable arch type over the
river Brembo, without any intermediate supports in the river
bed, and consists of an upper arch from which the deck is suspended
by cables . The deck itself is a composite three-dimensional
structure with the trusses in steel and slab in concrete.
The bridge abutments are in reinforced concrete with special
foundations. In addition to the normal street lighting, provision
has also been made for providing special night time illumination
for the new bridge.
The project also includes:
- construction of new roadway with reshaping of embankments
and installation of retaining walls in reinforced concrete
faced with local stone;
- installation of rainwater collection and disposal systems
and public lighting;
- construction of a nearby junction at the same road level
as the bridge to link the new road with the existing;
- construction of a box-section flyover from the Lenna side
abutment.
